So the holidays are a very busy season for all of us.  No matter where you live in the world, you have some season of holiday that probably includes a lot of eating, visiting, celebrations, and time spent OUT of routine.

How can you keep your fitness and exercise goals in the midst of a busy season?  Here are our top 5 ideas for getting those workouts in despite your schedule being interrupted with wonderful holiday celebrations.

1. Do what you love

During the rest of the year it IS important to vary your workout regimine and make sure you are getting all the cardio + strength training in.  During the holidays, just do what you love!  Like yoga?  Find a challenging new routine and get to it!  Love the elliptical so you can catch up on your favorite show?  No problem.  Just keep moving!

2. Commercial-cize

Those holiday movies are tough to say no to, especially when the grands are around.  No worries!  Keep your dumbbells nearby and do a few moves during the commercials!

3. Spend money

Alright, so this may not work for everyone’s holiday budget, but as the saying goes, “Put your money where your mouth is.”  Why not join a fitness class for this holiday season?  Even if it’s a few times a week, since you paid for it, you’re more likely to show up!

4. Set a goal

Start small.  They say it takes 21 days to create a habit, so why not give yourself a chart or something visual to check off and commit to a certain number of workouts this holiday season, or a certain amount of time per day.

5. Choose something over nothing

No matter how small, you can manage, improve, and affect your #optimalhealth with just a few minutes a day.  The goal is SOMETHING… versus NOTHING.  You can do this!
